Miriam Diez
Miriam Diez completed her bachelor's degree in biology and agricultural biology with a focus on botany and vegetation science. Her bachelor's thesis, in cooperation with the Brandenburg University of Technology, focused on this area and examined the modeling of photosynthesis and carbon fluxes in moss- and lichen-dominated biological soil crusts. She deepened her interest in these topics during her subsequent Master's degree in Landscape Ecology, with a particular focus on vegetation science and plant ecology. In her Master's thesis, she worked with the State Museum of Natural History in Stuttgart on the differentiation of Galium album and Galium mollugo in southwest Germany.
The further course of her academic career is reflected in her current doctoral thesis on the "Effect of historical land use on biodiversity in Baden-Württemberg" project. In this context, Miriam's expertise in the field of vegetation science finds optimal application. The research within the project aims to understand the effects of historical land use on current biodiversity in the region of Baden-Württemberg.
